In the process of forging and rolling, billet is usually heated in the oxidation atmosphere of complete combustion flame. The reduction flame with incomplete combustion (i.e. "self protective atmosphere") is used to directly heat the metal, which can achieve the goal of no oxidation or less oxidation.
