What Is The Difference Between A Heating Furnace And An Annealing Furnace?

Nov 28, 2022

The heating furnace is a metal heat treatment process in which the workpiece is heated to a certain temperature, taken out from the furnace after holding for a period of time, and cooled in the air by wind, water spray, spray or blowing. The purpose is to refine the grains and distribute the carbides uniformly.

After the annealing furnace heats the metal to a certain temperature, maintains a sufficient holding time, and then uses a suitable rate cooling method (usually slow natural cooling, sometimes controlled cooling) is a metal heat treatment process. The purpose is to soften the material or workpiece after forging, casting, welding or cutting, improve plasticity and toughness, make the chemical composition distribution more uniform, remove residual stress, or obtain the expected physical properties. There are many kinds of annealing processes depending on the purpose, such as recrystallization annealing, homogenization annealing, recrystallization annealing, isothermal annealing, spheroidizing annealing, stress relief annealing, stabilization annealing and magnetic field annealing, etc.

the difference:

The cooling rate of the heating furnace is slightly faster than that of the annealing, so the positive heating structure is finer than the annealing structure, and its mechanical properties are also improved.
